Treetop Walk at MacRitchie Reservoir

The treetop walk at MacRitchie Reservoir was organised by the SP Environment Club for the Hiroshima Institute of Technical Polytechnic students. This trip to the nature reserve is one way to show the Japanese exchange students that for a small country like Singapore, it offers a rich diversity of flora and fauna other than famous attractions like Orchard Road or Sentosa. The MacRitchie Reservoir is part of the central catchment area, comprising of other nature reserves like Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Pierce Reservoirs, making up the green lung of Singapore.

The students learnt more of Singapore’s efforts in maintaining its nature reserves, educating the public on green awareness like recycling. The highlight of the walk was the walk on the bridge, suspended 25 metres above ground, offering panoramic view of Lower Pierce Reservoir and the surrounding lush rainforest where students enjoy the sights and sounds of native birds. The trek ended at around 1pm with some light refreshments before the students embark on their journey to their next destination.
