The Grasshopper weaving workshop was organised by the SP Environment Club as part of the Student Personal Development Program (SPDP).
The response was so overwhelming that the 40 slots were snapped up almost immediately.
The 40 students were split into smaller groups to be taught by members of the Club. It was fun learning how to make their first grasshopper from coconut leaves. Many of them were keeping their first successful attempts for their boyfriends/girlfriends.
The students were also taught how to make a grass snake, and even malay rice cakes.
Everyone was engrossed in their newly-acquired skills that they didn’t realize that they have spent 2 hours with the SP Environment Club members.
When it was time to go, some of them took some leaves home to teach their friends and family. The workshop was indeed a success.
